Applications are invited for appointment as Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref: 530726), to commence as soon as possible on a 3-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.

 

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in healthcare-related disciplines, including but not limited to Surgery, Public Health, Social Sciences, with at least 3 years of hands-on post-doctoral experience in Endocrine Surgery research at reputable tertiary institutions.  They should have an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Cantonese and Putonghua), strong competency in qualitative and quantitative data analyses, and post-doctoral experience in clinical studies and grant applications.  They should be outstanding and self-motivated researchers with an excellent publication record.  Preference will be given to candidates with extensive knowledge and experience in big data analysis and analysing quantitative research data using advanced statistical methods (e.g., Stata, R, SAS).  

 

The appointee will assist the Division of Endocrine Surgery with research projects on thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, and pancreatic diseases in Hong Kong.  Responsibilities will include planning, coordinating, and implementing research; collecting data; managing project and survey design; conducting data analysis; preparing scientific publications and reports; and supervising junior research staff.  The appointee will also drive the application process for research proposals and grants, and perform any other relevant tasks as assigned.

 

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualification and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of basic salary.
