Student Advising Officer (Careers - Training & Development for Students) (at the rank of Executive Officer) (several posts) in the Careers and Placement Section of the Centre of Development and Resources for Students (CEDARS) (Ref.: 532000) (to commence as soon as possible on a two-year fixed-term basis, with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)
We are seeking highly motivated and student-focused professionals to join our team as Student Advising Officers (Careers). These roles are ideal for individuals passionate about career development for student success, with a focus on designing and delivering impactful career training programmes to students.
The appointees will be responsible for the below duties:
- Develop and implement career training workshops and seminars to enhance workplace readiness for all students, including but not limited to taught postgraduates and non-local student cohorts.
- Collaborate with faculties to design and deliver faculty-specific and industry-focused career support initiatives.
- Coordinate and facilitate individual career counselling sessions, providing personalized guidance to students across various academic programmes.
- Support the setup and development of the career communities for different student cohorts, fostering networking opportunities and peer engagement.
- Contribute to special projects, strategic initiatives and other tasks that enhance the university's career services and student employability.
- Work closely with employers, students, graduates, internal and external stakeholders, including faculties, trainers, career coaches, and programme partners, to drive initiatives and achieve long-term career development outcomes.
Applicants should possess:
- A good university degree with at least two years of work experience, preferably in learning and development, talent development, career services, student development, employer relations and/or talent acquisition within tertiary institutions and/or large corporations.
- Experience in design of training modules would be highly advantageous.
- A high level of organization, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- A proactive, independent, meticulous, and results-oriented approach, with the ability to multitask and work under pressure.
- A passion for supporting student career development and employability.
- Good knowledge of the local employment market and global trends.
- An excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience in webpage design and social media marketing is an advantage.
