Senior Finance Manager/Finance Manager, Subsidiaries and Initiatives Team in the Finance and Enterprises Office (Ref.: 537515)
The Role
The appointee will be assigned to the Subsidiaries and Initiatives Team in performing the following duties:
- Oversee the team in executing routine or special financial tasks, including but not limited to preparation of statutory and management financial reports, budgets, and interim/year-end consolidation packages;
- Steer the timely submission of financial statements, reports, and schedules for university-owned subsidiaries located in Hong Kong, Chinese Mainland and international locations;
- Stay abreast of prevailing accounting standards, group policies, and local legislation; advise senior management on implications and ensure consistent implementation across all regions;
- Serve as the major contactpoint with auditors and tax consultants for compliance with all financial, tax, and regulatory requirements, including transfer pricing documentation and audit engagements;
- Lead the review of existing policies and procedures with proposed recommendations and implementation plans to enhance internal controls over the university’s subsidiary operations;
- Lead the establishment and execution of new initiatives, collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders on strategic budgeting, policy formulation, workflow design, approval processes, accounting treatments and reporting standards, etc.;
- Oversee administrative duties, including company secretarial matters of subsidiaries;
- Drive process optimization and automation initiatives to streamline and standardize financial operations and reporting workflows;
- Manage and develop a high-performing team, fostering professional growth and ensuring capability alignment with the management’s direction and expectation;
- Perform ad hoc tasks as assigned; and
- Occasional travel to Chinese Mainland may be required.
Qualifications and Qualities
- A recognized Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline;
- A professional qualification (e.g., HKICPA, ACCA, etc) is a must;
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in financial management, with at least 5 years in a senior supervisory or managerial role overseeing multi-regional operations, ideally within universities or sizable non-profit making organizations;
- Proven experience in managing accounting, auditing, and financial reporting for subsidiaries in Hong Kong, Chinese Mainland, and international location;
- Extensive knowledge of Chinese Mainland accounting standards, tax regulations, and auditing practices; familiarity with cross-border financial compliance is essential;
- Strong understanding of international financial reporting standards and group consolidation processes;
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to lead and develop a diverse finance team and manage complex stakeholder relationships;
- Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua); ability to communicate effectively across cultures and regions;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and experience with business intelligence tools such as QlikView or similar systems;
- Hands-on experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, particularly Oracle Financials or equivalent, is highly an advantage;
- Strong sense of responsibility, strategic thinking, and the ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines; and
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to organizational excellence.
What We Offer
Appointments will be made on fixed-term full-time contracts for 3 years for the Senior Finance Manager, or 2 years for the Finance Manager, to commence as soon as possible, with the possibility of renewal. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 15% of basic salary for Senior Finance Manager and 10% of basic salary for Finance Manager. Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written test. Candidates with less experience may be considered as Finance Manager.
