Facilities Officer (holding the functional title of Assistant Engineer) (several posts) in the Maintenance and Operations Unit of the Estates Office (Ref.: 537413)
We are seeking dedicated candidates for the position of Facilities Officer (holding the functional title of Assistant Engineer) to join the Estates Office.
The Role
The appointees will be responsible for routine building maintenance, improvement works and alteration works in all aspects, particularly for academic and laboratory buildings, tendering process, site progress monitoring, supervision of and liaison with contractors, follow-up on service agreements and certificate renewals, and communication with the user departments / internal teams / external consultants to ensure that works are executed in order with qualified services. They may be required to work shifts, overtime and on public holidays, subject to prior arrangements; and act as an emergency team coordinator outside regular office hours.

Qualifications and Qualities
Applicants should possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Building Services Engineering (Electrical & Mechanical), Building Surveying, Real Estate, Facilities Management, Property Management, Building Services or related disciplines; OR a relevant diploma with 5 years’ experience;
- A valid Construction Industry Safety Training Certificate (Green Card) issued in accordance with Chapter 59 of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance (i.e. by attending the relevant safety training courses which are recognized by the Commissioner for Labour) or equivalent;
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, AutoCAD, and hands-on experience with computer-aided facilities management (CAFM) system; and
- Possession of a valid Certificate of Registration of Electrical Worker (Grade A or above) would be an advantage.
What We Offer
The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years, to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary.
