Applications are invited for the appointment as Part-time Lecturer in Population and Policy Analysis in the Faculty of Social Sciences (Ref. 537229), to commence in December 2026 or as soon as possible on temporary term, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.
Applicants should possess a Master’s degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, or a related field. They should demonstrate a strong record of either professional practice in policy design and evaluation within institutional settings (e.g., government, NGOs, or consultancy firms), and/or prior teaching experience of similar applied policy courses. Familiarity with drafting policy proposals, agenda-setting, consultations, conducting stakeholder analyses, and applying practical evaluation frameworks (such as logic models or cost-benefit reasoning) is highly desirable. Knowledge of the policy environment in Greater China or East Asia is an advantage. A background in demography, population studies, or quantitative/statistical modelling is not a must.
The appointee will teach the course "Applied Policy Design and Strategy," a generalist elective course offered by the Master of Social Sciences in the field of Population and Policy Analysis programme. He/She will be responsible for developing course materials, and delivering lectures and tutorials throughout a standard 12-week semester. The appointee will be supported by a Teaching Assistant, who will assist with course-related administrative duties and grading tasks.
