Applications are invited for appointment as Research Officer in the Department of Microbiology, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 537174), to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Microbiology, Bioinformatics/Computational Biology, or a related discipline, with extensive research experience and a proven track record in EBV and emerging infectious disease projects. Required technical competencies include multi‑omics integrative analysis across genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics and metabolomics datasets. Candidates should be experienced in molecular docking and virtual‑screening pipelines, alongside machine‑learning and deep‑learning frameworks for pathogen detection, drug‑target identification, antimicrobial discovery and protein‑protein interaction characterisation. Working familiarity with microscopy‑imaging platforms is also mandatory. Ideal applicants are expected to exercise independent scientific judgement and take ownership of their research directions, with proven potential to lead individual sub‑projects. Meanwhile, good team‑player qualities and effective communication are essential for productive collaboration within the multi‑disciplinary group on EBV‑ and emerging‑infection‑related projects.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
