Assistant Technical Manager in the Department of Mechanical Engineering (Ref.: 536930) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance).

Applicants should possess a recognized bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, with more than 5 years of experience in providing technical support in a tertiary institute. Those with a higher diploma or higher certificate can also apply if they have more than 10 years of the required experience. The applicant should also possess strong communication skills, good project management skills, basic skills in Office applications, and knowledge in chemical safety. Experience in managing minor works projects would be an advantage. Applicants should be self-motivated, responsible, able to work independently and under pressure, and capable of handling multiple tasks with good organizational skills.

The appointee will provide technical support to the departmental laboratory and supervise a small team of junior technical staff.  He/she will also assist the Engineering Manager in planning and executing minor works projects in the department. The appointee will need to coordinate with other departments, such as the Estate Office and Engineering Faculty, and liaise with contractors on the front line to ensure smooth execution of the projects.
