IT Manager in the Management Information Unit of the President’s Office (Ref: 536656)
The Role
The appointee will be responsible for data management, data analysis and modelling initiatives to ensure the availability, quality, and integration of data from diverse sources, and for establishing a centralised data repository that supports statistical data reporting and analytics. He/She will develop and maintain BI solutions, including data extraction, models, reports and dashboards, to optimize and improve BI systems for better performance and usability. Other duties include providing IT support, managing tendering processes (e.g., evaluation criteria, vendor selection, timelines, and documentation), implementing the Information Security and Data Management (ISDM) Policy, DLP installation, as well as managing and supporting tools and software for data privacy management.
Qualifications and Qualities
Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or above in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline, with at least 8 years’ relevant experience in IT, including preferably 2-3 years’ experience in business intelligence or data analytics. They should have solid experience and strong proficiency in Oracle PL/SQL, Microsoft Power BI, with a good understanding of data warehousing concepts. Familiarity with Java Servlet, SAS, DAX or other data analysis software, BI tools or other data visualization tools would be an advantage. Experience in Windows Server administration and knowledge of applying artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) in data management are also advantageous. They should demonstrate a strong analytical mindset and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail, and the ability to interpret complex data and respond to evolving business needs. They should also have a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese, good interpersonal skills, self-motivation, a strong sense of responsibility, the ability to work independently and under pressure, and to accomplish tasks assigned within tight deadlines.
What We Offer
The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for two years, to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary.
