Technical Officer in the Faculty of Dentistry (Ref.: 536397)

We are looking for a Technical Officer to join the Faculty of Dentistry.

The Role

The appointee will support the operations and administration of the Dental Technology Laboratory.  Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting fabrication workflows such as preparing materials, assisting in producing models/casts, and manipulating dental CAD software, CAM machines and prosthetic/orthodontics components;
  • Supporting the Faculty’s research in dental technology;
  • Preparing, maintaining, and cleaning laboratory equipment to ensure safe and efficient teaching sessions;
  • Assisting in teaching activities, including preparing demonstration materials, setting up practical classes, and supporting students during hands‑on sessions;
  • Maintaining and managing laboratory inventory and materials to ensure adequate stock for teaching and clinical exercises;
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, including infection control and equipment handling;
  • Keeping accurate and proper records and documentation of laboratory activities and supporting quality assurance processes;
  • Acting as a communication bridge between academic staff, clinical staff, and laboratory technicians to facilitate laboratory operations; and
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Qualities

  • A Bachelor’s degree; OR 5 passes in HKCEE including English, Chinese and Mathematics, or min. Level 2 in 5 subjects in HKDSEE including English Language, Chinese Language and Mathematics with 5 years of relevant experience;
  • Self-motivated, responsible, and able to work collaboratively as part of a team;
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Good command of spoken and written English and Chinese (including Putonghua); and
  • Formal training related to dental technology or dental materials science, and knowledge in digital dentistry (CAD/CAM) workflows will be considered an advantage.

What We Offer

The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years, to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.  A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary.  Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.
