Technical Officer in the Department of Physics (Ref.: 535057)
We are looking for a Technical Officer to join the Department of Physics.
The Role
The appointee will provide technical support and assist in managing the teaching laboratories to ensure the smooth running of experimental classes, and provide guidance to students during laboratory sessions. He or she will be responsible for organizing and managing the teaching duties of teaching assistants, developing new experiments, and enhancing existing experiments under supervision. The appointee will also be responsible for procurement and inventory matters in the Department, and will perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Qualities
- A Bachelor’s degree in Physical Science, Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, preferably with a Master’s/PhD degree;
- 2 to 5 years’ technical support experience; teaching experience is an advantage;
- Knowledge of either physics, applied physics, or engineering physics at university level;
- Knowledge of laboratory control or data analysis software such as LabVIEW or Origin will be advantageous;
- A good command of spoken and written English and Chinese (including Cantonese and Putonghua);
- Good interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving and communication skills;
- IT proficiency, with the ability to multitask;
- A good team player, self-motivated with a strong sense of responsibility and ethics.
What We Offer
The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years, to commence at the earliest on June 1, 2026, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary.
