The Hong Kong Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences (IHSS) is an independent institute under The University of Hong Kong, dedicated to multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research and teaching in the humanities and social sciences, with a focus on China. We are seeking a highly motivated and proactive professional to join us as a Manager (at the rank of Administrative Assistant II). 

The Role 

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive administrative support to the Institute, contributing to the development and execution of strategies to promote IHSS and its academic activities. He/She will handle a wide range of responsibilities, including finance and human resources matters; committee support; research administration, supervising executive and clerical staff; and performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess a good University degree with at least 6 years of relevant hands-on experience at a supervisory level in the tertiary education sector. An excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua), coupled with high-level communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills, is essential.

Applicants should be self-motivated, attentive to detail, and capable of multi-tasking and working independently under pressure. A strong sense of responsibility, problem-solving ability, and proven leadership skills to motivate and lead a team are also required.

What We Offer

The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years, to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.
