IT Officer (holding the functional title of Assistant IT Manager) / IT Technician (several posts) in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 534696) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability)
Qualifications and Qualities
- A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, preferably with substantial knowledge in system maintenance, programming and audio-visual (AV) technologies
- Previous experience in a tertiary institution or public organization will be an advantage
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 ecosystem (SharePoint, Teams, PowerBI, Power Automate etc.)
- Proven experience in Windows-based PC setup and troubleshooting (knowledge and experience in Linux-based machine is a plus)
- Sound knowledge in modern video conferencing systems such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams Webinar, Cisco Webex, and setting up corresponding equipment
- Experience in setting up and maintaining Network Attached Storage (NAS)
- Proficiency in web programming languages/tools such as PHP, Python, MySQL, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, etc.
- Sound knowledge in modern Content Management Systems (CMS) such as SiteCore, Drupal and WordPress
- Demonstrated ability to deliver multimedia solutions, including photography, video production, and post-production editing
- Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese
- Self-motivated, adaptable, flexible, creative, and passionate about emerging technologies
- Strong sense of ownership, good interpersonal skills, and proven ability to manage priorities and deliver satisfactory results within tight timeframes, both independently and collaboratively
Key Responsibilities
The appointees will provide a broad range of technical support services, including but not limited to:
Digital Workplace & eOffice Optimization:
- Design and maintain Office 365-based digital workplace solutions, including SharePoint intranets, Teams collaboration hubs, and Power Automate workflows to streamline departmental operations
- Promote the adoption of Microsoft 365 applications to enhance productivity and remote collaboration
Multimedia & Digital Content:
- Produce high-quality multimedia content, including photography, video production, and graphic design, for departmental communications, events, and digital platforms
- Manage and curate content for departmental websites and social media channels
- Provide AV technical support for conferences, seminars, and events (including after-hours when required)
Technical Infrastructure:
- Develop and maintain full-stack web applications (front-end, back-end, database)
- Provide tiered technical support and troubleshooting services
- Configure and deploy computer systems and peripheral devices
- Conduct user training on software applications and IT protocols
- Maintain IT asset inventory and preventive maintenance schedules
- Enforce IT security policies and compliance standards
- Design and implement innovative IT solutions
Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview. Those with less experience and/or lower qualifications may be appointed as IT Technician.
