Teaching Assistant, HKU Jockey Club Enterprise Sustainability Global Research Institute in the Faculty of Business and Economics (Ref.: 534518) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)
 
The HKU Jockey Club Enterprise Sustainability Global Research Institute is a premier centre established through a strategic collaboration between The University of Hong Kong (HKU) and The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC). Our mission is to serve as a world-class hub for pioneering Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) research, training, and best practices. We bring together distinguished scholars and foster partnerships across private, public, and non-profit sectors to drive sustainable development, responsible leadership, and meaningful impact in Hong Kong, Asia, and beyond.
 
We are looking for a highly organized and proactive Teaching Assistant to provide essential support for our sustainability research, impactful events, and online learning platform. This position offers a unique opportunity to be at the heart of impactful sustainability initiatives.
 
The successful candidate will be instrumental in coordinating research projects and events, developing practical case studies that bridge academic insights with real-world ESG applications, and providing crucial administrative support for our flagship online course with responsibilities include but not limited to the followings: 
 
• assisting the NGO Program Manager and researchers in the curation, coordination, and logistical execution of research projects, workshops, and training events; 
 
• collaborating with Research Officers and Faculty members of HKU Business School  and/or other faculties (if the need arises) to research, write, and develop compelling ESG case studies focused on NGO and corporate sustainability practices;
 
• providing comprehensive research and project support, including taking interview notes, conducting desktop research, compiling data, preparing summary reports and slides, and supporting workshop and training communications and material preparation; and
 
• managing the administrative maintenance of the Institute’s online course, with a primary focus on the end-to-end learner registration process, handling inquiries, and coordinating platform logistics.
 
The ideal candidate should be a detail-oriented problem-solver with excellent writing skills, a passion for sustainability, and possess experience in project coordination, eager to contribute to impactful work at the intersection of academia and practice.
 
Qualifications
 
• a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Social Science, Business Administration, Sustainability Studies, Communications, or Education;
 
• 1 to2 years of relevant professional experience in project coordination, research assistance, administration, or a related role;
 
• a genuine and demonstrable interest in ESG principles, the non-profit sector, and philanthropy;
 
• excellent command of written English and Chinese, with a proven ability to produce clear, structured, persuasive, and grammatically correct  content (writing samples may be requested); 
 
• outstanding organizational skills, a proactive and self-motivated work ethic, and the ability to manage multiple tasks independently with high accuracy; 
 
• strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team and with diverse stakeholders; and
 
• high proficiency in standard office software (MS Office Suite).
 
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
