Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 534495), to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract.
Applicants should possess: (i) a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in Surgery or a related discipline; (ii) a strong track record in breast surgery research, in particular on molecular genetics, next generation sequencing, cancer biology, tumour microenvironment, and clinical translational research for breast cancer; (iii) outstanding achievements in high-quality research as indicated by publication record and external grants; (iv) evidence of international recognition; (v) a demonstrated ability to work across disciplines towards new research initiatives that fit with the Department’s research areas; and (vi) a strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
The appointee is expected to conduct independent and collaborative scholarly research and attract competitive grants to maintain active research programmes. He/She will take part in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, and supervise research postgraduate students. He/She is also expected to perform administrative duties. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salary tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
