Assistant Research Officer in the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy (Ref.: 534324)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contribute to research projects in areas such as extracellular vesicles & cell therapy, immunotherapy, nucleic acids therapeutics for brain cancer, and neurodegenerative diseases.
  • Utilize bioinformatics/DS and AI expertise to deepen the understanding and quantification of high data contents e.g. transcriptomics, proteomics, nano-string, single cell sequencing, immunohistochemical images.
  • Support pharmaceutical research in the Department to enhance the development of more effective and safer advanced and conventional therapies through the incorporation of data science, bioinformatics and/or image analysis tools.
  • Participate in clinical trials and laboratory projects.
  • Assist in managing research projects, including preparation of scientific publications and monitoring grant reports.
  • Perform data analysis to derive meaningful insights.
  • Provide general administrative and operational support, ensuring the smooth execution of research projects.
  • Initiate and contribute to grant writing and applications.
  • Liaise and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.

 

Requirements

  • Possess a Ph.D degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Biostatistics, Computation, Artificial Intelligence or a related discipline.
  • Have a minimum of 2-3 years’ pre-clinical, laboratory, and/or clinical research experience in applying data science or bioinformatics in pharmaceutical or health disciplines.
  • Demonstrate an excellent command of written and spoken English, and preferably Chinese (including Cantonese and Putonghua).
  • Advantageous to have experience in grant management and working in large groups.

 

What We Offer

The appointment will commence as soon as possible on 2-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered. The appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable. Other benefits include annual leave, medical benefits and free access to on-campus gyms and libraries.
