Executive Officer/ Clerk I (holding the functional title of Assistant Sports Development Manager/ Sports Development Officer) in the Centre for Sports and Exercise (Ref.: 534209)

 

We are looking for a dynamic and proactive Assistant Sports Development Manager/ Sports Development Officer to join the Centre for Sports and Exercise.

 

The Role

Reporting to the Sports Development Manager, the appointee will be responsible for the full spectrum of programme management and athlete development functions.  He/She will manage University Sports Teams, organize competitions and sporting events, and oversee the delivery of sports and recreational programmes.  He/She will also nurture talented athletes through training and support, ensure programme quality assurance, and apply evidence-based strategies into practice.  The appointee may also serve as a Team Manager, leading sports teams to overseas competitions or training camps.

 

Qualifications and Qualities

•   A Bachelor's degree, preferably in Sports and Recreation Management, Exercise Science, Sports Coaching, or equivalent;

•   At least 3 years' experience in programme management;

•   Demonstrated skills in athlete and team development, talent nurturing, and physical activity promotion;

  • Demonstrated ability to stay updated with current trends and best practices in sports development;

•   Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Cantonese; and proficiency in Mandarin is an advantage);

•   Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team, foster effective cooperation with co-workers, coaches, and students in a positive and friendly manner;

•   Strong organizational skills, high self-motivation, and the ability to work under pressure;

•   Possession of coaching qualifications, fitness training certifications, adventure sports background, and/or experience working with sports teams or national sports associations will be distinct advantages.

 Those with less experience may be considered for appointment as Sports Development Officer.

 

What We Offer

The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years, to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.  A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary.  Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.
