Research Assistant II in the Department of Physics (Ref.: 534178)

Applications are invited for appointment as Research Assistant II in the Department of Physics, to commence as soon as possible for a period of up to 12 months.

 

Project Background

The appointee will work with Dr. Jason C.S. Pun on the Inter-institutional Collaborative Activity (IICA) project titled "Development of Flipped Laboratory Platform for University Level Physics". This project is funded by the Teaching Development and Language Enhancement Grant (TDLEG) – 2025-28 Triennium. The project is led by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) in collaboration with The University of Hong Kong (HKU). The appointee is also expected to provide support to the teaching and learning activities at the Physics Department.

 

Job Duties

The appointee will provide technical and administrative support to the project team and will be responsible for:

1. Developing digital resources or documentation for the flipped laboratory curriculum.

2. Liaising with the lead institution (PolyU) and other project collaborators.

3. Performing general administrative duties related to the project, including progress tracking and data collection.

4. Other tasks related to teaching and learning at the Department as assigned.

 

Requirements

· A Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Physical Sciences, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.

· Experience in laboratory instrumentation or the development of educational technology platforms is highly preferred.

· Proficiency in programming (e.g., Python or web development) is an advantage.

· Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative, multi-university team.

· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

 

What We Offer

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The funding for this position is specifically allocated for staffing under the HKU portion of the grant.
