Applications are invited for appointment as Research Assistant I and Research Assistant II in the Department of Urban Planning and Design (Ref.: 534099), to commence in February 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter for 12 months, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.
Applicants of both posts should preferably hold a Master's degree or above, with a background in qualitative methods, particularly regarding conducting interviews and field observations, or at the very least be interested in developing skills in this area. They need to be native speakers of Cantonese. Mandarin skills are an additional asset.
The appointees will be involved in a research project exploring working conditions in bus services in Hong Kong. Therefore, candidates passionate about Hong Kong's public transport, and bus services in particular, are strongly encouraged to apply.
The appointees will be tasked with translating a survey to Cantonese to be distributed among bus drivers, conducting the interviews with regular bus drivers and PLB drivers alongside the project lead or individually, conducting mobile observations, and assisting the project lead in translating the NSFC application to Mandarin.
Applicants holding a Master’s degree in a highly relevant field and demonstrating substantial related work experience may be considered for appointment as Research Assistant I. Applicants interested in a part-time appointment are encouraged to explore this option, which is open for negotiation.
