Technical Officer in the Centre for Comparative Medicine Research (Ref.: 534042) (to commence as soon as possible, on a one-year temporary basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)
The Centre for Comparative Medicine Research is a rapidly expanding, AAALAC International accredited, academic research-support centre of the LKS Faculty of Medicine at HKU. We are committed to the provision of high-quality laboratory animals, well-equipped animal holding facilities, and professional services to support the leading role of HKU in research and teaching. We are seeking various talents and offer excellent staff training and long-term development opportunities. With a team comprising scientists, veterinarians, registered laboratory animal and medical laboratory technologists, and over 100 highly trained and dedicated staff, we strive to promote the humane and excellent care and use of laboratory animals in the university. Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or above in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related discipline. They should have a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese; strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills; and be attentive to details. Experience in performing mouse-assisted reproduction is an advantage but not necessary.
The appointee will perform mouse genotyping, colony management, in-vitro fertilization, sperm/embryo cryopreservation, mouse colony re-derivation, pronuclear/blastocyst injections, CRISPR-Cas9/DNA microinjection and embryo transfer. He/She may be required to work on weekends on a rotation basis.
