Applications are invited for appointment as Assistant Director (Development) (at the rank of Administrative Assistant I) in the Development & Alumni Affairs Office (DAAO) (Ref.: 533715) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance).
As DAAO continues to expand its impact, we are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented, and strategic professional to join our growing team. The appointee will play a key role in supporting the University’s fundraising and engagement efforts in the Chinese Mainland and other emerging areas & regions of interest for the development of the University, working closely with senior management and external stakeholders to advance philanthropic engagement and institutional development.

The Role
- Policy Development: Support senior management in formulating internal policies and guidelines for managing donations from the Chinese Mainland and other emerging areas & regions;
- Stakeholder Relations: Build and maintain relationships with philanthropists, foundations and corporations in Chinese Mainland;
- Fundraising Initiatives: Lead and drive fundraising initiatives, including donor engagement, proposal development, and event coordination;
- Market Intelligence: Conduct research and analysis to identify new fundraising opportunities; and
- Strategic Alignment: Collaborate with internal teams to align fundraising strategies with the University’s goals and priorities.
Requirements
- A good bachelor's degree, as well as a legal degree is essential;
- Extensive engagement experience in the Chinese Mainland is a key requirement;
- Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese, including Putonghua;
- Substantial professional experience (at least 8 years), preferably in the higher education sector, public or quasi-public organisations, or related fields;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to implement strategic initiatives in a dynamic and evolving environment; and
- Exceptional interpersonal, organisational, and project management skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
