Applications are invited for the appointment as Lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE)
The University of Hong Kong has a highly ranked engineering school and active electrical and electronic engineering programmes. The EEE Department offers B.Eng., M.Sc., M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes. Information about the Department can be obtained at http://www.eee.hku.hk/.
Duties and Responsibilities
The appointee will primarily teach postgraduate courses and work closely with the Department to manage the Taught Postgraduate (TPg) programmes, ensuring students receive the necessary support to produce high-quality research. He/She will be expected to:
1. deliver new and existing engineering courses;
2. oversee and guide students through their dissertations/projects;
3. work with teachers and teaching assistants in managing the MSc dissertations/projects;
4. collaborate with industry professionals to ensure course relevance; and
5. perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Requirements
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering or a related area, with at least four years solid teaching experience in tertiary institution, and experience in providing direct support to enhance engineering education. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong record of MSc dissertation supervision and experience in supporting teaching, learning, and professional development. Priority will be given to those with teaching experience in the following areas: electrical, electronic and building services courses, or those with research experience in learning and/or tertiary curriculum and pedagogical innovations.
What We Offer
The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years, to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.
