Executive Officer in the HKU Musketeers Foundation Institute of Data Science (Ref.:533544) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)

Applicants should possess a good Bachelor’s degree, preferably in marketing, journalism, communications, language, or a related discipline. They should have at least 4 years of relevant work experience in tertiary education institutions or NGOs, particularly in event management, public relations, and/or knowledge of publishing design, media, and communications (e.g., website and social media management). The appointee should preferably have relevant experience in committee work and supervision of junior staff in a small team. He/She should have strong communication skills, be self-motivated, and possess an awareness of global affairs. A good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua), a high level of computer literacy, and the ability to handle multiple assignments concurrently while balancing priorities and meeting deadlines are essential. They should also be able to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

 

The appointee will manage the institute’s outreach events and activities, such as seminars, workshops, conferences, and short-term programmes. He/she will provide a wide spectrum of administrative support and event and marketing management to the Institute under the supervision of the Assistant Director (Administration), including:

  • Planning, organizing and coordinating event and activities;
  • Liaising with diverse stakeholders, both internally and externally;
  • Managing project budgeting, financial reporting, and accounting;
  • Conceptualizing and executing marketing strategies to enhance the institute’s visibility and engagement;
  • Managing content creation and write-ups, including e-newsletters, publicity, social media posts, event scripts and promotional materials;
  • Leading the Multimedia Designer and Project Assistant to create effective visual content for promotional purposes;
  • Overseeing social media scheduling and website management; and
  • Providing secretarial support to IDS committees.

 

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  The appointee may be required to work outside normal office hours and on weekends.
