IT Manager / IT Officer in the Faculty of Engineering (Ref.: 533373) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal)

The appointee will play a key role in providing IT support to the student experiential activities and development projects, and new engineering initiatives such as active learning and AI literacy courses. The appointee will have a primary focus on managing computing facilities, including GPU servers, HPC systems, cloud services, networks, and website maintenance. He/She will also manage a team of technical staff to ensure the smooth operation of the Tam Wing Fan Innovation Wing within the Faculty of Engineering. Responsibilities will include facility procurement, inventory management, and safety management. 

Applicants should have: 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline. 
  • A minimum of five years of substantial system maintenance and programming experience, along with at least three years of supervisory experience, is required.  
  • Proven expertise in administering Linux and Windows operating systems and network systems. 
  • Strong knowledge of AI infrastructure and the ability to configure high-performance computing (HPC) systems (e.g., GPU farms). 
  • Hands-on experience managing cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, Alibaba Cloud, and Amazon Web Services. 
  • Strong sense of responsibility, and attributes such as flexibility, creativity, passion, willingness to learn, and self-motivation. 
  • Excellent written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese) communication skills. 

Those with less experience and/or lower qualifications may be considered for appointment as IT Officer. 

The appointee will provide a broad range of technical support services to the Innovation Wing, including: 

  • Configuring and setting up computer systems and related devices. 
  • Offering technical guidance and troubleshooting to resolve IT issues. 
  • Preparing training materials and conducting sessions to help students utilize computing facilities effectively. 
  • Overseeing IT equipment inventory and ensuring proper maintenance. 
  • Providing on-site IT support during events, including after-hours assistance as needed. 
  • Proposing and implementing IT solutions, as well as designing infrastructure to support AI projects. 
  • Maintaining and updating the Innovation Wing’s websites.
