Part-time Teaching Assistant in the Faculty of Social Sciences (Ref.: 532605) (to commence in August 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a one-year temporary term, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.)
Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree preferably in Arts, Social Sciences, Science or a related discipline. They should have at least one year of experience in teaching and research. Applicants should also demonstrate excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, as well as an excellent command of written and spoken English. Preference will be given to those with experience working within interdisciplinary fields such as education, anthropology, archaeology, geography, ecology, or environmental studies, and with a passion for encouraging students to think in an interdisciplinary way. The ideal candidate will be able to assist in the following Common Core courses that cover the intersections of science and social science:
CCST9081: All You’ve Ever Wanted to Know About Humans
CCGL9080: Societies on the Water
The appointee will assist course teachers in course preparation and administration; conduct tutorials; support field trips and other academic activities; grade assignments and tests; provide consultative support to students outside class; and perform other duties as assigned by the Course Coordinator, Dr. Michael Rivera.
