Senior Technical Manager in the Project Division of the Estates Office (Ref.: 532572)

We are looking for a Senior Technical Manager to join the Estates Office.

The Role

The appointee will have the opportunity to participate in a range of projects including new building and renovation works.  The project scope may cover various aspects including academic, teaching and learning, research, and residential, ranging from renovation to capital development scale.  

The appointee shall be an all-round professional who possesses design flair and hands-on experience on delivery of quality projects.  He/she shall be able to perform various duties from inception to post-completion and responsible for conducting feasibility studies and formulating project requirements; exercising budget control and programme planning; leading the external consultants on design quality and project implementation; monitoring site construction and resolving technical issues; coordinating with various parties including consultants, government authorities, internal user groups, facilities management and in-house bodies in relation to project execution.

Qualifications and Qualities

Applicants should possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Building Services Engineering or related disciplines;
  • Relevant professional qualifications recognized by The Hong Kong Institute of Engineers in Building Services Engineering or equivalent;
  • At least 15 years’ post-qualification experience in large-scale building projects, of which at least 10 years must be at management level;
  • A conversant understanding of local statutory regulations and experience in dealing with Government officials in subvention procedures;
  • Excellent communication, analytical and supervisory skills, capability to work independently and develop solid relationship with internal and external stakeholders, and good working knowledge of BIM software; and
  • A valid Construction Industry Safety Training Certificate (Green Card) issued in accordance with Chapter 59 of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance (i.e. by attending the relevant safety training courses which are recognized by the Commissioner for Labour) or equivalent.

Those with relevant experience in large scale development, institutional, DfMA or MiC would have an advantage.

What We Offer

The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 2 or 3 years, to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.  A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 15% of basic salary.  Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.
