The Academic Liaison Office (ALO), operating through the International Affairs Office and Mainland Affairs Office, acts as an essential link between the University and its local and global partners, fostering institutional collaboration to advance teaching, learning, and research excellence. By working closely with faculties and departments, the ALO oversees student mobility programmes and administers the HKU Summer Institute, providing valuable opportunities for academic and cultural exchange. Additionally, the office manages the HKU Visitor Centre and Campus Store, further enhancing the campus experience for students, staff, and visitors alike. The Role
The appointees will play a key role in supporting the development and implementation of new initiatives for the University, both in Hong Kong and the Mainland /overseas. They will be responsible for fostering and maintaining strong partnerships with internal/external stakeholders, overseeing the daily operations of designated functional team(s) within the ALO, and performing any other duties as assigned by the Office Head. The role may require working outside regular office hours and frequent travel.
Qualifications and Qualities
Applicants should have a good University degree and at least 10 years’ work experience, preferably in the higher education sector, of which at least 5 years should be at supervisory or management level. They should have excellent communication skills, including a strong command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua); outstanding leadership, interpersonal and organisational skills; a strong sense of responsibility; and the ability to work under pressure. Solid experience in Mainland/international relations, institutional partnerships and tertiary institutions will be an advantage.
What We Offer
The appointment will be made on a full-time fixed-term contract for two years, to commence as soon as possible, with the possibility of renewal. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.
