The Communications and Public Affairs Office (CPAO) of the Registry of the University of Hong Kong (HKU) plays a vital role in strengthening and elevating the University’s reputation through strategic branding, digital communications, media relations and stakeholder engagement. The office oversees a diverse range of functions including managing HKU’s brand identity, website and social media channels, media publicity and monitoring, organising key university ceremonies and events, producing publications and fostering community engagement.
As key members of our Marketing and Branding team, the successful candidates will contribute to the development and implementation of branding strategies, digital content, and promotional activities that reinforce HKU’s distinguished reputation locally and globally.
Key responsibilities of the Marketing and Publicity Officer / Assistant Manager:
- Support the development and execution of marketing plans to boost the University’s brand and visibility;
- Lead content marketing campaigns by sourcing stories, conducting interviews and creating engaging content for digital and print channels;
- Plan, execute, and monitor marketing campaigns across paid and organic channels; analyse data and results to evaluate campaign performance;
- Monitor market trends and competitors to derive insights and inform future strategies;
- Collaborate with website vendors to develop landing pages and manage content uploads;
- Coordinate with internal teams, external vendors and partners to ensure timely campaign launches;
- Prepare marketing briefs, oversee production (design, video, photography), and manage procurement processes;
- Act as brand custodian, ensuring consistent brand application and developing brand guidelines; and
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
For the above posts, applicants are expected to have:
- A good bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or a related field;
- At least 6-8 years of relevant experience in brand-building, marketing campaign management, digital marketing, content marketing, or external communications;
- Excellent spoken and written English and Chinese;
- The ability to manage fast-paced projects and collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners in a dynamic environment;
- Proficiency in PC applications, including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
- Strong analytical skills to interpret data and generate insights; experience with Google Analytics is preferred;
- Familiarity with AI tools and proficiency in Canva for creating digital content is an advantage;
- Knowledge of mainland market trends is a plus; and
- Willingness to work outside regular work hours and on duty rosters as needed.
What We Offer:
The appointments will be made on a fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years, to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of the basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.
