IT Officer/IT Technician in the Faculty of Engineering (Ref.: 531770) (to commence as soon as possible on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal)

Qualifications and Qualities

  • A Higher Diploma or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science, Multimedia Technology or a related discipline;
  • Proficiency in web programming languages/tools such as Java, PHP, Python, MySQL, MS SQL, HTML5, CSS, Bootstrap and JavaScript, etc.;
  • Proven experience in Linux/Windows OS, and application server administration;
  • Strong knowledge of Windows and Mac operating systems, common software applications, and networking concepts
  • Able to work independently, under pressure and multitask;
  • Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (Putonghua and Cantonese);
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams; and
  • Experience in photography, photo editing, and/or video editing is advantageous.

Candidates with more experience and/or higher qualifications may be considered for appointment at the rank of IT Officer.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain web applications, utilizing front-end, back-end, and database technologies;
  • Provide technical support and assistance to staff members, addressing and resolving IT-related inquiries within the Engineering Faculty offices;
  • Assist in the setup and configuration of computer systems and peripherals;
  • Conduct user training on software and IT policies;
  • Monitor and manage IT equipment inventory;
  • Ensure compliance with IT policies and security standards;
  • Provide on-site support for events and offer IT support outside regular office hours;
  • Assist with service desk projects, including relocations and OS installations or upgrades.
