Research Assistant I/II in the Department of Real Estate and Construction (Ref.: 531634) (to commence as soon as possible for six months to one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability)

 

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or above. They should have proficiency in written and spoken English and the ability to work independently and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and external parties, including academics and industrial society. The applicants should have experience and strong interests in researching in:

Project: e-TranStar 2.0: i-Core-Based Intelligent Real-time MiC Transportation Planning

Project Description: This Public Sector Trial Scheme (PSTS) will reuse big data from past MiC projects to retrain logistics planning models and customize the e-TranStar web system for Hong Kong Housing Authority (HKHA) public MiC projects. Specific objectives include: (1) enabling proactive transportation planning by providing ETA for module transportation tasks; (2) establishing a dynamic logistics task adjustment mechanism for real-time delivery; (3) achieving proactive quality assurance during transportation through module vibration monitoring; and (4) customizing a stakeholder coordination platform for HKHA projects.

Post 1: Research Assistant (Cross-border MiC Logistics Optimization)

Requirements:

  1. Logistics and Supply Chain Management:
    • Experience in supply chain optimization, using data analysis and technical tools to enhance logistics efficiency. Research or project experience in cross-border logistics is preferred.
  2. Modular Construction and Logistics Integration:
    • Ability to integrate modular construction with logistics systems to optimize transportation processes.
  3. Data Analysis and Optimization Algorithms:
    • Proficiency in programming language (e.g., Python, R, and MATLAB) for processing and analyzing logistics data. Proficiency in delopying optimization algorithms for logistics path optimization and resource allocation.

 

Post 2: Research Assistant (Backend Development Engineer)

Requirements:

  1. Backend Development Experience:
    • Proficiency in at least one backend programming language (e.g., Java, Python, Go, Node.js).
  2. System Architecture and Design:
    • Experience in distributed system design, including load balancing, caching, and message queues.

The appointee will assist the Project Coordinator, Project Manager, Team Leader to conduct research or development of relevant projects.

 

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered.
