Administrative Assistant II / Executive Officer in the Department of Sociology (Ref.: ­­­531477) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.

Applicants should possess a good university degree, with at least 5 years’ solid administrative work experience, preferably in tertiary education institutions. They should have an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese, effective communication, interpersonal, organizational, time management and problem-solving skills. Pursuit of quality work and efficiency, strong sense of responsibility, professional work attitude, attentive to details, ability to handle multiple tasks, a good level of computer literacy are essential qualities. They should be a good team player who can work independently with initiative and maintain staff motivation to deliver quality work under tight deadlines.

The appointee will play a versatile role at the frontline providing a wide spectrum of administrative support to the Department, including teaching and learning, research, knowledge exchange, external communication and event coordination, secretarial support for committees and general office administration; take on new initiatives, supervise clerical staff, perform any ad-hoc duties as assigned, and may be required to work outside normal office hours and on weekends. Experience in all aspects of academic programme management, including assessment, curriculum development and revisions, quality assurance and enhancement, student recruitment and programme promotion, administration of grant applications, research funding schemes, and/or knowledge and student exchange projects would be an advantage. Candidates with less experience or qualifications may be considered for appointment as Executive Officer. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview and/or written test.

A competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
