Applications are invited for appointment as Professor of Practice in the Department of Data and Systems Engineering (Ref.: 531351), to commence as soon as possible on a four -year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.  

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in engineering, data science, computer science and closely related to the technical areas such as data analytics, robotics and automation or human/machine collaborations, with at least 10 years’ industrial work experience and with a strong commitment to teaching, research and services. Additional experience in academics is highly appreciated. They should have good interpersonal and communication skills in written and spoken English; and should be self-motivated, highly organized and a good team player.

The appointee is expected to teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses, supervise the students’ final year project and graduate students’ dissertations and theses, conduct research projects and provide administrative services to the department. He/She will also be expected to perform any other duties as assigned. Priority will be given to those who demonstrate strong track record of related teaching experiences and working experience in industries.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
