IT Technician in the LKS Faculty of Medicine (Ref.: 531340) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance)
Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience), along with proven experience in an IT support or help desk role. Strong knowledge of Windows and Mac operating systems, common software applications, and networking concepts, as well as excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-oriented approach are essential. Familiarity with ticketing systems and remote support tools is a plus, and relevant certifications such as ITIL are considered a bonus.
The appointee will provide first-line support to users by troubleshooting computer hardware and software issues to ensure the optimal operation of IT services. This role involves responding to user inquiries via phone, email, and in-person; resolving IT-related problems; and maintaining user satisfaction. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting hardware and software issues; assisting in the setup and configuration of computer systems and peripherals; maintaining accurate support request records in the ticketing system; collaborate with senior IT staff for complex issues; provide user training on software and IT policies; monitor IT equipment inventory; and ensure compliance with IT policies and security standards. Additionally, the appointee will support the IT Officer and Manager in supervising external service engineers; provide non-office hour IT support; offer on-site support for events; and assist with service desk projects such as relocations and OS installations or upgrades.
