Tenure-Track Clinical Associate Professor/Clinical Assistant Professor in Implant Dentistry
Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Clinical Associate Professor/Clinical Assistant Professor in Implant Dentistry in the Faculty of Dentistry (Ref.: 531265), to commence as soon as possible, on a four-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second four-year fixed-term contract.
The Faculty of Dentistry is the only dental school in Hong Kong and is the only one in Greater China that uses English as the medium of instruction. The high quality of the Faculty’s undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, research excellence and clinical/professional services have attained global recognition, as evidenced by the Faculty’s World Ranking among the top three by the QS World University Rankings by Subject for eight out of the past ten years (2015-2024). The Faculty’s strategic research themes include Clinical Artificial Intelligence, Craniofacial Regeneration, Microbiome Innovation, Oral Cancer, and Population Oral Health. The Faculty also plays an important role in public and professional education through its knowledge exchange (KE) activities as well as in health research and promotions in international, regional and local communities.
Applicants should demonstrate excellence in clinical care, research and teaching in the field of Implant Dentistry on top of sound knowledge and training in Periodontology. They are expected to work collaboratively in a dynamic and diverse environment, develop a competitive research portfolio, and contribute to the curricula in Implant Dentistry at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. Ability to partake undergraduate periodontology teaching / education and fluency in spoken and written English are essential.
For appointment as Clinical Associate Professor, applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Dentistry, clinical specialist or equivalent status in Implant Dentistry, Prosthodontics or Periodontology, advanced training or experience in Implant Dentistry and a Ph.D. degree or equivalent. They should have (i) proven ability for quality research, high quality publications in international journals, and evidence of local and regional recognition for scholarship and professional expertise; (ii) demonstrated ability in undergraduate and postgraduate education, clinical practice and research; (iii) demonstrated clinical expertise; (iv) demonstrated participation in Faculty and University affairs; and (v) demonstrated ability in KE activities, and leadership in professional education programmes and/or community engagement.
For appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor, applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Dentistry, and a Master of Dental Surgery degree or equivalent in Implant Dentistry, Prosthodontics or Periodontology, and advanced training or experience in Implant Dentistry. They should have (i) ability in undergraduate and postgraduate clinical teaching and practice; (ii) potential for and interest in research; (iii) proven ability in clinical excellence; (iv) ability and willingness to participate in Faculty/University affairs; and (v) participation in KE activities.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
