Research Assistant I/II in the Department of Ophthalmology, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.:530975) (to commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)

 

Applicants should possess (1) a Bachelor’s degree or above, preferably in statistics/biostatistics, health sciences, computer science, or other related disciplines; (2) solid experience in at least one of the following areas: R language or related statistic software, or/and Python software, or programming skills of deep learning tools, e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, or C/C++/JAVA/JavaScript/PHP/ASP.NET; (3) good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua). Experience in research projects or publications, knowledge in biostatistics and epidemiology, big data management, computer sciences, R language or python, medical image analysis, deep learning algorithms, foundation model and generative artificial intelligence model development, keen on publications or further pursuing a postgraduate degree, and interest in clinical research, ophthalmology, and myopia would be advantages. Those with more experience may be considered for appointment as Research Assistant I.

 

The appointees will contribute to a range of studies of the epidemiology of eye, big data or/and AI related studies. They will work on literature review, data collection, data management, and perform other duties as assigned. Irregular working hours may be required occasionally. These posts provide an excellent training opportunity to those who are interested in clinical research, particularly in ophthalmology and myopia. Other opportunities include (1) being involved in landmark research projects and encouraging in publications of high-quality papers; (2) acquiring unique, specialised ophthalmological investigative skill with advanced ophthalmological instruments; (3) promotion opportunity; and (4) academic opportunity if applicant is interested in pursuing a postgraduate degree. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
