Applications are invited for appointments as Post-doctoral Fellow in AI welfare in School of Humanities (Philosophy) (Ref.: 530912), to commence in August 2025 for 2 years.
Applicants should have completed a Ph.D. degree in philosophy by the time of appointment. The position is focused on AI welfare. Applicants with background in philosophy of AI, normative ethics, or philosophy of mind are preferred.
The fellow’s supervisor will be Simon Goldstein (simon.d.goldstein@gmail.com). The appointment will be affiliated with the Hong Kong Ethics Lab (https://www.hkethicslab.com), the AI & Humanity Lab (https://ai-humanity.net), and the Department of Philosophy (https://philosophy.hku.hk). The candidate is expected to participate actively in the work of both labs, and help organize events at the HK Ethics Lab.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
