Assistant Research Officer (holding the functional title of Research Coordinator) in the Department of Family Medicine and Primary Care, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 530717) (to commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)
Applicants should ideally possess a Master’s degree or above in the field of Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Public health or another related discipline.
The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Clinical Professor Dr. Peter Tanuseputro. Prof Tanuseputro is a family physician and a public health physician who has recently joined the University of Hong Kong. He conducts health services research using ‘big data’ in the areas of primary care, end-of-life care, and care for frail and vulnerable populations. He runs research in a team-based environment, with a focus on development of both junior faculty and research staff.
The successful candidate should have good command of written and spoken English. They will have good communication skills and have the ability to multitask. They should also be able to work independently while staying organized in a fast-paced environment. They would have shown evidence of academic excellence in their undergraduate/post-graduate studies.
They are expected to assist the core project team members in planning and coordinating research projects, mainly in the area of health services research using ‘big data’. They will oversee data analysis and data collection, working with the data analyst on the team along with trainees. They will prepare papers and presentations; perform administrative tasks (e.g., setting up and running meetings, preparation of grants, and submission of manuscripts) and perform other tasks as needed for the team. There will be ample opportunities to work with research and health professionals to develop a research career in health and health services.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
