Assistant Finance Manager (at the rank of Executive Officer) in the Technology Transfer Office (Ref.: 530668) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability)

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the finance and accounting function for the group of companies
  • Assist in the setup and management of accounting systems for the group of companies and liaise with software vendor for operational issues
  • Support financial governance structure and internal control procedures
  • Formulate and implement finance and accounting policies, guidelines and procedures
  • Manage and monitor the procurement process in accordance with funding rules and company guidelines
  • Prepare payments to support daily operations and monitor cash flows of the group
  • Accountable for month end and year end closing of accounts
  • Prepare regular and ad-hoc financial reports and analysis including budgets and variance analysis
  • Liaise with banks and auditors to coordinate statutory audits with external auditors and manage bank account maintenance
  • Other ad-hoc tasks as assigned by management

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or other related disciplines
  • At least 5 years of work experience in the accounting and auditing field, of which at least 2 years at supervisory level. Qualified accountant (CPA, ACCA or equivalent) is required
  • Experience in higher education sector, academic or research institutions, or public/quasi-public organization is an advantage
  • Sound IT knowledge and experience in implementing new accounting system is preferred
  • Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel and strong spreadsheet skills
  • Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Be self-motivated and possess a strong sense of responsibility
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines effectively
