Administrative Assistant II / Executive Officer in the HKU Musketeers Foundation Institute of Data Science (Ref.: 530140) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance) 

Applicants should possess a good Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with at least 7 years of relevant work experience, including at least 4 years’ experience at a supervisory level within the context of tertiary education institutions, preferably in the areas of human resources, finance, and research postgraduate (RPg) programme administration.  They should have an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua), good communication and problem-solving skills, and an appropriate level of IT literacy.  They should be attentive to details, self-motivated with a strong sense of responsibility, capable of working under pressure, as well as a good team player who is willing to take on new challenges. 

The appointee should also be strong in projects management and possess relevant experience in research project and outreach programs management such as conferences and non-degree bearing courses.  He/she will provide a wide spectrum of administrative support to the Institute which is outlined below:

  • overseeing the operation of the research projects and non-degree bearing courses;
  • providing administrative support in the areas of project planning and management, grants and awards applications, human resources and financial matters;
  • liaising with internal and external stakeholders to plan and organise research and knowledge exchange events and activities for the research projects and out-reach activities run by the Institute;
  • monitoring the development of cluster projects and activities; and
  • providing secretarial support to relevant committees, and assist the Assistant Director in overseeing the office administration as well as other duties as assigned.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  Candidates with less experience will be considered for the position of Executive Officer.  Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written test and interview.
