The Swire Institute of Marine Science (SWIMS) is a research facility of the Faculty of Science at The University of Hong Kong, dedicated to providing scientific information to help conserve and sustain Hong Kong’s coastal marine ecosystem.  Information about SWIMS can be found at https://www.swims.hku.hk/.

SWIMS is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Executive Officer to join our team.  Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. environmental studies, biology, or a related discipline) with at least 3 years’ experience in grant writing, preferably in the area of nature-based solutions.  They should have an excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese (including Cantonese and Putonghua); good communication skills and the ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to a non-technical audience; strong organizational and project management skills; and the ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.  Familiarity with funding opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and other organizations is a plus.

The appointee will be responsible for securing external funding and identifying funding opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and other organizations that support research on nature-based solutions.  This includes writing and editing grant proposals, managing the application process, working with the Faculty, colleagues and other stakeholders to develop competitive grant proposals that align with the University's strategic priorities and funding guidelines.  Additionally, the appointee will collaborate with researchers and other stakeholders to develop project budgets and timelines, as well as perform any other assigned duties.  Remote work is possible for this position.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.

The University only accepts online applications for the above post.  Applicants should apply online and upload an up-to-date C.V., a cover letter, and a writing sample.  Review of applications will commence as soon as possible and continue until October 31, 2024, or until the post is filled, whichever is earlier.
