Sport and Recreation Officer/Assistant Sport and Recreation Officer (at the rank of Executive Officer/Clerk I) in the Centre for Sports and Exercise (Ref.: 530075) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)

Applicants should possess a good Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Sports and Recreation Management, Exercise Science, Sports Coaching or equivalent, with at least 3 years’ programme management experience.  They should possess skills that can assist in the development of athletes and teams, nurture talented athletes by providing training and support, as well as broad-based recreation and physical activity promotion and programme quality assurance.  They should be dynamic and proactive with demonstrated ability to work independently and in teams; stay updated with current trends and best practices in sports development; apply evidence-based strategies into practice; and be able to work cooperatively with co-workers, coaches and student in a positive and friendly manner.  Excellent written and spoken English and Chinese (including Cantonese) are required.  Those with coaching qualifications, fitness training certifications, adventure sports background and/or experience in working with sports teams/national sports associations would have advantages.  Candidate with less experience will be considered for the appointment of Assistant Sport and Recreation Officer.

The key responsibilities of the appointee are management of University Sports Teams, organization of competitions/sporting events and sports & recreational programmes.  He/She may from time to time serve as the Team Manager to lead sports teams for overseas competitions/training camps.  The post will be primarily based at the Stanley Ho Sports Centre in Sandy Bay.  Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview.
