Applications are invited for appointment as Research Assistant I/II) in the Sau Po Centre on Ageing within the Faculty of Social Sciences (Ref.:530050), to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability. 

 

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or above in Social Sciences, Engineering, Psychology, Statistics, Data Science, or related disciplines, preferably with at least 1-year work experience or further studies in healthcare, technology, gerontology. Applications with relevant research and project experience will be prioritized. They should also have experience in conducting quantitative and qualitative data analyses, adequate knowledge in using statistical software (e.g.,SPSS, R, Stata), and a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (fluency in Cantonese is required). Familiarity with MS office applications and qualitative data analysis software (e.g., MAXQDA, NVivo) will be an advantage.

 

The applicants should have empathy with older adults, be self-motivated and willing to learn research as well as project management skills, a good collaborator and is also able to work independently with a strong sense of responsibility. Applicants should be able to communicate efficiently with older adults.

 

The appointee will be part of the research team to conduct high-impact research related to older adults and their family caregivers, gerontechnology, and big data analysis. The appointee will also have the possibility to work with our clinical psychologist in the centre for the development of evidence-based intervention. He/She will be involved in data collection and analysis, literature review, support project activities and other duties as assigned.
