Research Assistant I/II in the Department of Ophthalmology (Ref.:530035) (to commence as soon as possible, on a one-year temporary basis or a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)

 

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or above, preferably in medicine, biomedical sciences, health sciences, or other related disciplines. They should have a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua). They should have good organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, strong sense of responsibility, be detail-minded, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team. Experience in research projects, knowledge in biostatistics and epidemiology, and interest in clinical research, ophthalmology, and neuroscience would be advantages. Those with more experience may be considered for appointment as Research Assistant I.

 

The appointees will contribute to a range of studies of the epidemiology of eye and systemic diseases, and investigating novel interventions in improving the treatment of such diseases. They will work on literature review, data collection, data management, and perform other duties as assigned. Irregular working hours may be required occasionally. These posts provide an excellent training opportunity to those who are interested in clinical research, particularly in ophthalmology and neuroscience. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointments on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary.
