About the Centre for Water Technology and Policy

The Centre for Water Technology and Policy, established in 2018, conducts cutting-edge research on water technology-policy interface issues that would result in findings of direct practical relevance for Hong Kong’s urban water sector. The Centre offers a vibrant working environment, embraces an innovative culture and commits to a can-do spirit. We are seeking a Senior Research Assistant to help coordinate the implementation of large-scale, city-wide applied research and knowledge exchange projects that pertain to urban water resources management.   

 

Position Overview

The appointee is expected to play a key coordinating role in implementing the Centre’s research and knowledge exchange programmes, which pertain to salient public policy matters in the urban water sector. He/She will work closely with the Centre’s Executive Director and members of an interdisciplinary team, with guidance and supervision provided by the Executive Director.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Team collaboration: Collaborate closely with members of an interdisciplinary team, taking on a coordination function to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Drafting of project write-ups: Conduct literature reviews and prepare first drafts of project progress reports.
  • Community outreach: Utilize the latest smart water metering technologies and insights from behavioral science to design and conduct community outreach activities that focus on water sustainability issues.

 

Requirements

  • An MPhil degree in a Social Sciences discipline (e.g., Geography; Public health; Public policy; Sociology; Urban planning), with at least one year’s post-qualification experience
  • Excellent proficiency in written and spoken English
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate in an interdisciplinary environment 
  • Able to work independently and as a member of a team to meet tight deadlines

 

What We Offer

The appointment will commence as soon as possible, on a one-year temporary basis, with the possibility of renewal, subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered.
