Assistant Manager (at the rank of Executive Officer) in the Communications and Public Affairs Office of the Registry (Ref.: 528801) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal)

 

The Communications and Public Affairs Office (CPAO) of the Registry of the University of Hong Kong (HKU) enhances HKU's reputation through branding, events, digital communications, media relations, and more. The office is also responsible for University events and ceremonies, publications, both external and internal communications, crisis management and community engagement. CPAO is currently elevating and expanding its scope of services. We are looking for talented candidates to join the team.

 

The key responsibilities of the Assistant Manager are to:

 

  • support the Assistant Director and Senior Manager in the effective development and implementation of marketing and community engagement activities;
  • plan, co-ordinate and manage various kinds of ceremonial and public activities to promote the University’s image;
  • develop and execute the publicity plans for various activities of the University;
  • engage both internal and external parties in developing marketing materials, including brochures, booklets, invitations, events video highlights, onsite decoration etc.;
  • plan and coordinate project schedules, manage procurement processes to commission third-party service providers for various University initiatives;
  • oversee and manage third-party filming on campus; and
  • perform any other ad-hoc duties (including projects) that may arise from time to time subject to job rotation within CPAO.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree holder;
  • at least five years’ experience in events management, marketing and hospitality;
  • proficiency in both written and spoken English, Chinese and Putonghua;
  • strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
  • proficient in web technologies, knowledge about social media platform trends, and skilled in data analytics for marketing; knowledge of multimedia, graphic design, and video-editing tools is a plus;
  • excellent communication and presentation skills for collaborating with internal faculties and vendors;
  • proven ability to handle VIPs is an advantage;
  • ability to multitask and prioritise assignments to meet deadlines;
  • excellent time management and resource planning skills;
  • ability to manage fast-paced projects and work with cross-functional teams in a complex environment;
  • detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently under pressure;
  • strong values of integrity, teamwork, and commitment to providing excellent service;
  • experience in Higher Education and Service sectors is a bonus;
  • experience in supervising junior staff is an advantage; and
  • willingness to work outside of regular work hours and be on duty as required.

 

Compensation and Benefits:

 

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
