Digital Experience Designer (at the rank of Senior Technical Assistant) in the Communications and Public Affairs Office of the Registry (Ref.: 528593) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal)

 

The Communications and Public Affairs Office (CPAO) of the Registry of the University of Hong Kong (HKU) enhances HKU's reputation through branding, events, digital communications, media relations, and more. The office is also responsible for the University’s events and ceremonies, publications, both external and internal communications, crisis management and community engagement. CPAO is currently elevating and expanding its scope of services. We are looking for talented candidates to join the team.

 

In brief, CPAO would need a designer immediately who can generate and execute marketing communication materials with a special focus on digital/social channels and create and design visually compelling digital content, including graphics, images, and videos, that align with brand guidelines and resonate with target audiences.

 

Specific key responsibilities of the Digital Experience Designer are to:

 

  • Formulate and execute marketing communication materials with a special focus on visual design for digital/social channels;
  • Work closely with other team members within CPAO and turn their tasks and requirements into design ideas that are relevant and engaging to our target audience;
  • Identify, direct and supervise external creative partners, including advertising agencies and production houses on the quality of graphic design materials;
  • Stay abreast of and share best practices in marketing communications creativity in the higher education arena locally and internationally;
  • Develop and design visually compelling digital content, including graphics, images, and videos, that align with HKU’s brand guidelines and resonate with target audiences;
  • Develop compelling visuals and multimedia content with AI Tools;
  • Review and revise HKU’s brand guidelines and enforce brand design polices; and
  • Perform any other ad-hoc duties that may arise from time to time related to marketing, communication and event management.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Hold a Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Interaction Design, Media Arts, Visual Design, or related disciplines;
  • Possess 3-4 years of working experience, preferably in an agency environment or within the higher education arena;
  • Showcase a design-focused portfolio with samples of past relevant projects;
  • Capable of producing simple motion graphics and visual effects, as well as designing basic webpages;
  • Must be proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, XD, Premiere, and MS Office;
  • Possess knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and AR technologies (as an advantage);
  • Able to perform UX research to inform designs and explain results to stakeholders and develop wireframes, storyboards, and screen flows, and conduct usability testing and audience focus groups (ideally);
  • Must be able to demonstrate excellent written and spoken English and Chinese communication skills; and
  • Be open to giving and receiving constructive criticism, and be subject to creative job rotation within CPAO.

 

Compensation and Benefits:

 

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
