Senior Technical Officer/Technical Officer (two posts) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering (Ref.: 527085) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal)

Applicants should possess a recognized Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline. They should have experience in mechanical design using CAE software such as AutoCAD and Solidworks, as well as practical skills with mechanical tools, conventional machining tools, and portable electrical tools. Experience in additive manufacturing and/or conventional workshop machining is preferred. Post-qualification work experience in the industry and/or tertiary education will be an advantage. They should also have a good command of written and spoken Chinese and English, the ability to work confidentially under pressure, and strong communication skills to facilitate effective communication and cooperation among students and academic staff.

The appointee will be responsible for providing inclusive technical services in teaching and research activities; managing the Department’s maker space; conducting safety management and technical procurement; preparing technical documentations; providing technical support and guidance to undergraduate students in their projects; maintaining inventory records and performing other tasks as assigned. Those with less experience but with strong initiative to learn and potential for growth may be considered for the position of Technical Officer.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
