Curator/Associate Curator (at the rank of Administrative Assistant I/II) in the University Museum and Art Gallery (UMAG) (Ref.: 532944)

Applications are invited for appointment as Curator/Associate Curator (at the rank of Administrative Assistant I/II) in the University Museum and Art Gallery (UMAG) (Ref.: 532944), to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.

The Role

Reporting to the Director, the appointee will be responsible for the following duties:

  • In charge of developing more digital technologies and applications for the museum;
  • Support all ongoing and future online initiatives;
  • Contribute to educational programming; and
  • Act as a spokesperson for the museum with the media, at functions, conferences and meetings when appropriate.

Qualifications and Qualities

  • A Ph.D. in Art History, Archaeology or related areas;
  • An interest in digital technology and AI and their application in culture;
  • At least 5 years’ professional experience, including teaching experience;
  • An excellent command of written and spoken English; and
  • Ability to work with digital technologies for the museum and the culture sector. 

Those with less qualifications/experience may be appointed as Associate Curator. Shortlisted candidates will be notified of the application result.

What We Offer

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary for Curator and 10% of basic salary for Associate Curator.
