Technical Officer in the Department of Chemistry (Ref.: 532350) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)
Applicants should possess a higher degree (M.Phil. or Ph.D.) in Chemistry with at least 5 years of experience in teaching laboratories and/or operating and maintaining analytical or chemical instrumentation. Experience in a commercial testing laboratory or chemical industry is highly preferred. Knowledge of GMP or ISO standards would be advantageous. Applicants should have in-depth knowledge and extensive experience in operating teaching and research instruments, including LC-MS, GC-MS, ICPMS, HPLC-DAD, UV-VIS/NIR Spectrophotometer, flame AA, etc. Knowledge of handling dangerous goods is a significant advantage. They should have a good command of English and Chinese (including Putonghua) as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
The appointee will be responsible for designing and modifying undergraduate experiments, preparing chemicals, materials and standards, as well as maintaining and calibrating instruments for undergraduate and taught postgraduate laboratories. He/She will also perform any other duties as assigned.
