The Role

The appointee will support Student Feedback on Teaching and Learning (SFTL),the structured feedback mechanism for the University’s courses and teaching,  by designing, developing, and maintaining web applications using a variety of front-end, back-end, and database technologies. Responsibilities also include addressing and resolving IT-related inquiries and managing the setup and updates of the Mac server environment to ensure optimal performance and security of the application. The appointee will also perform general administrative, operational, and other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Qualities

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science or a related discipline with at least six years’ work experience in web applications development. Proficiency in web programming languages and tools such as Lasso, PHP, Python, MySQL, MS SQL, HTML5, CSS, Bootstrap, and JavaScript, as well as experience in setting up and updating Mac servers, is essential. Proven experience in Linux/Windows OS and application server administration is necessary, along with a strong knowledge of Windows and Mac operating systems, common software applications, and networking protocols. A basic understanding of UNIX-based systems, particularly Linux (Ubuntu), is also desirable. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential for effectively interacting with non-technical users and efficient troubleshooting. The ability to work independently and collaboratively and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment would be a distinct advantage.

What We Offer

The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years, to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.
