Research Assistant I/II in Hong Kong Jockey Club Global Health Institute (HKJCGHI) of the School of Public Health (Ref.: 537477), to commence as soon as possible on a one-year temporary contract, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.
Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or above in molecular biology, biomedical science, biochemistry, virology, immunology or a related discipline. Prior experience in animal work, viral propagation, computational analysis and vaccine/drug development is considered as an advantage. Applicants with the following qualifications are highly desirable:
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Proficiency in standard molecular biology techniques (molecular cloning, PCR, western blot) and tissue culture techniques, with at least two years of hands-on wet-lab experience
- Well-organized, with the ability to maintain accurate and detailed experimental records
- Excellent communication skills in both English and Chinese, with strong academic writing skills in English
Those with higher academic qualifications or more extensive relevant wet-lab experience may be considered for appointment as Research Assistant I.
The appointee will contribute to the development of new vaccines against emerging and re-emerging zoonotic viruses, and to gain mechanistic insights of virus-host interactions.
